In 1953, the first recognized Autumn Leaf Festival was held during the Clarion State College Homecoming and featured two parades. Today, this International Award-Winning Festival spans nine days in late September through early October. The festival features a variety of activities for all age groups including Farmers & Crafters Day which alone attracts over 350 vendors filling six blocks of Main Street and the largest “Tournament of Leaves” Parade in the area.

In late November through the holiday season many special events take place. Customer Appreciation Day is always the Monday before Thanksgiving and is the retailer’s way of saying thank you to their customers by offering refreshments and special discounts. The Christmas Parade and Party are also the same evening with Santa and Mrs. Claus coming to town! For the first two weeks of December the downtown is turned into a “Storybook Christmas” where children and their parents enjoy listening to stories about the holiday and participating in various activities.

The Clarion County Farmers’ Market is held May thru October, every Saturday, 8:30 AM to Noon in the Courthouse parking lot on Main Street. Local producers offer seasonal produce, meats, eggs, cheese, baked goods, maple syrup, fresh cut flowers, hanging baskets, garden and perennial plants and handmade goat milk soap. The annual celebration of our nation’s independence, I Love Clarion, is a family event held at the Clarion University Memorial Stadium. Local non-profit organizations sell food and beverages while free entertainment is provided throughout the evening. The dazzling fireworks display is the grand finale.
